Winchester (2018), directed by Michael Spierig and Peter Spierig, is a supernatural Horror film inspired by the real-life Winchester Mystery House. The story is set in 1906 and tells the story of Sarah Winchester (played by Helen Mirren), widow of weapons magnate William Wirt Winchester. Sarah is grieving the loss of her family and believes she is haunted by the souls of those killed by Winchester rifles.
To appease these restless spirits, she has built a vast, labyrinthine mansion in San Jose, California, with no clear plan or end in sight. The film introduces Eric Price (Jason Clarke), a skeptical psychiatrist who is sent by the Winchester company to evaluate Sarah’s mental state. As they explore the mansion’s eerie corridors and strange architecture, Eric uncovers the tragic story of a ghost that haunts Sarah.
