Chris Weitz (known for About a Boy and more recently Operation Finale) tries hard to make Afraid an above-average, intelligent Horror movie, but the effort is noticeable and ultimately results in a boring, obvious movie. And if Horror can’t scare us in ways we can’t even imagine, why bother worrying?
